About the Award

The Weinbaum Award represents the highest recognition of excellence at Union Health, honoring medical and dental staff members who demonstrate exceptional leadership and make outstanding contributions to patient care and medical practice across Union Health, Union Hospital Clinton and Union Medical Group.

Dr. Jack Weinbaum's Legacy

Named in memory of Jack Weinbaum, M.D., this prestigious award celebrates his enduring impact on medicine in the Terre Haute community. Dr. Weinbaum is remembered for his intelligence, foresight and profound compassion for others.

His legacy continues through this award, which embodies the highest standards of medical service and excellence in the Wabash Valley.

Recognition Criteria

The Weinbaum Award recognizes a member of the medical or dental staff who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation in the practice of medicine, including:

  • Establishment of innovative or new services
  • Improvement in the quality of patient care
  • Contributions to medical education for staff and health system personnel

2026 WEINBAUM WINNER

Dr. Eric Beachy, M.D.

Union Health Foundation is proud to recognize Dr. Eric Beachy, M.D. as the 2026 Weinbaum Award recipient. For more than a decade, Dr. Beachy has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing patient care and medical education at Union Health. Through the development of a comprehensive procedural curriculum for the Family Medicine Residency Program, he has equipped resident physicians with the skills to provide a broader range of specialized care to patients in our community.

In addition to his commitment to education, Dr. Beachy has served in numerous leadership roles, including Associate Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency, Chair of the Pharmaceuticals and Therapeutics Committee, Section Chair of Family Medicine, Director of Employee Health and member of the Medical Executive Committee. His passion for excellence, mentorship and innovation has strengthened Union Health and helped shape the next generation of physicians.
