Union Health Foundation is proud to announce the award of 99 scholarships totaling $123,750 to 77 outstanding students from the Wabash Valley for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This year’s scholarship recipients were honored during a ceremony held at Union Hospital on Wednesday, marking a significant event in the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to developing the future workforce in health care.
Since its beginning in 1985, Union Health Foundation has remained dedicated to supporting the educational goals of local students pursuing careers in health care. To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to over 800 local students pursuing careers in vital fields such as nursing, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy and other health-related professions.
“Our scholarship recipients represent the very best of our communities—students who are committed to their education and dedicated to pursuing careers that make a difference in the lives of others,” said Mary Doti, Board Chair of Union Health Foundation. “Their determination, compassion and hard work give us great confidence in the future of health care, and we are proud to support them as they take the next steps in their educational journeys.”
This year’s scholarships include over 40 nursing students and 18 individuals pursuing advanced degrees in health care-related fields. These awards strengthen the future of care in our communities by supporting continued education and professional growth, while also creating meaningful opportunities for individuals as they prepare to serve as the next generation of health care leaders.
“Many of these scholarships exist because of the generosity of donors who have chosen to honor someone special through giving,” said Becky Miller President of Union Health Foundation. “Several awards were established in memory or in honor of individuals whose passion for health care continues to live on through the students who receive these scholarships. The Dr. Randy Stevens Scholarship is a meaningful example of this legacy, awarded to a medical student who is working within our community, supporting their educational journey while helping ensure we continue to grow and retain future physicians close to home.”
Union Health Foundation remains committed to fostering excellence in health care education, creating opportunities for local students and making a lasting impact on the health and wellbeing of our communities.
