When Korbin was just two and a half, his parents noticed delays in his speech. His mom’s gut told her something more was going on. Their pediatrician recommended speech therapy, but when they learned it wasn’t covered by insurance, the price was crushing—about $400 a week.
For many families, that would have been the end of the story. Therapy would have been out of reach. A diagnosis would have been delayed. And Korbin would have missed out on the crucial early interventions that change everything for a child with autism.
But thanks to Union Health Foundation’s Pediatric Therapy Fund, Korbin didn’t have to wait. Donors made it possible for him to begin therapy right away—free of charge. Within just a few months, his therapy team helped secure an early autism diagnosis, something his mom calls “life-changing.”
“Without this program, I don’t know where we would be,” she shared. “Because we were able to get that diagnosis early, Korbin was able to start all the right services right away. It set everything in motion. This program gave us hope when we felt helpless.”
Today, Korbin is making great progress. He’s learning how to share his feelings, connect with teachers and even explain when something hurts—all skills that make a huge difference for him and his family. Every time he runs into therapy, he does so with a smile, excited to see the people who feel like part of his family.
For his mom, the message to supporters is simple:
“These programs aren’t just for families without insurance—they’re for all of us. Even with a steady job, we couldn’t have afforded this care. Donors gave Korbin his voice, his confidence and his future. And for that, we will be forever grateful.”
Because of donors to Union Health Foundation, Korbin has a brighter tomorrow. With your support, more children like him can, too.
